The Kindness of a Child

RAinOn a rainy summer morning, a young student came to school with his mom to meet his tutor. I met them at the door as they waited for the tutor to arrive. As the tutor pulled into her parking space the student grabbed an umbrella and announced that he was going to help her inside. He met his tutor at her car door and escorted her to the building, holding the umbrella up as high as his 6-year old arms would allow. I loved seeing the joy and excitement in his face as he was helping someone else just as he had been helped by his mom a moment ago. It reminded me that we have so many big and small opportunities to model servant behavior and you never know how your actions will inspire someone else to take action-but God knows!
